Luckily, most of the endings can be achieved if you've made certain friendships throughout the game, and you'll have the option to pick which one you want to play through right at the end. Cyberpunk 2077 romance options play a role in the closing scenes, as does your relationship with Johnny Silverhand, tied as it is to the Cyberpunk 2077 secret ending.

This should be obvious but I'll mention it now: this guide contains some major spoilers for Cyberpunk 2077, so click away now if you'd prefer to discover these for yourself. Everyone else, read on to find out everything you need to know about the best Cyberpunk 2077 endings.

How many endings are in Cyberpunk 2077?

Cyberpunk 2077 has a total of five endings—including the secret ending—though several of these can have different outcomes, depending on another decision you make as they play out.

The endings are:

  • Where is my Mind? (default)
  • All Along the Watchtower
  • New Dawn Fades
  • Path of Glory
  • Path of Least Resistance (bad ending)

The number of choices you are given during the Nocturne Op55N1 main story mission will come down to whether you played through certain side quests. If you have several options at this point, you'll be able to return to pick a different choice if you want to see how the other endings play out.

How to unlock all endings in Cyberpunk 2077

As mentioned above, the critical point is presented during the Nocturne Op55N1 mission, where you'll need to decide which ending to choose:

The biggest gaming news, reviews and hardware deals

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

  • "Think trusting Araska's risky but worth it."
  • "Gonna ask Panam for help."
  • "Think you and Rogue should go."

The default ending choice will always be present ("Think trusting Arasaka's risky but worth it."), as will the 'bad' ending—more on that below. But to get the two other 'main' options you're required to complete Panam's quest chain, as well as the side jobs involving Johnny and Rogue. For the Cyberpunk 2077 secret ending, you need to make sure you and Johnny are friends.

In short, here are the requirements to unlock every ending:

  • Complete the 'Queen of the Highway' side mission. This is Panam's final quest in her separate story arc, the same one that's tied to the Panam Palmer romance. Do note that the romance itself isn't required for this ending—just make sure you finish this quest.
  • Complete Johnny and Rogue's side job 'Blistering Love'. You'll only receive this quest if you become friends with Johnny at the end of the Chippin' In side mission.
  • At the end of the Chippin' In mission, select certain dialogue options with Johnny.

Final warning for major spoilers: The choices you need to make during the Nocturne Op55N1 mission for all Cyberpunk 2077 endings—as well as their outcomes—are detailed below.

Cyberpunk 2077 ending: Trust Arasaka (default)

This is the default choice and there are no requirements you need to meet to get this ending. While on the Nocturne Op55N1 mission, choose "Think trusting Arasaka's risky but worth it," to go with this ending.

Johnny isn't happy with your choice to trust Arasaka but you take the Omega blockers anyway. After calling Hanako, you'll discover that she has been captured by her brother and after you rescue her, she will reveal that her father is still around as an engram. This is a stroke of luck because when you meet him later, it will be confirmed that Yorinobu killed Saburo.

Unfortunately, Yorinobu has ordered the execution of the entire board. Both you and Hanako survive and she will ask you to hunt down her brother. You'll face off against Adam Smasher in a boss fight which, depending on how you feel about Johnny, can be quite satisfying as he was responsible for Johnny's murder.

Once you've located Yorinobu, leave him for Hanako to deal with as she sees fit, and travel to Mikoshi with Hellman. You now enter cyberspace where you'll find Johnny is still not happy with you. After a lengthy conversation, you return to your body and Johnny is left with Alt.

A short time later, and while onboard an orbital station owned by Arasaka, Hellman will wake you and offer you a choice:

  • Signing the contract allows you to join Secure Your Soul, Arasaka's pilot program. This creates an engram of V's mind which is then stored in Mikoshi.
  • Refuse to sign the contract and you'll need to collect your things, fly back to Earth and, as Hellman explains, you'll be dead before winter.

Cyberpunk 2077 ending: Ask Panam for help

This choice will only be available during the Nocturne Op55N1 if you completed Panam's side quests, up to and including 'Queen of the Highway'. Pick "Gonna ask Panam for help" when given the option.

You call Panam and she picks you up and takes you to the Aldecaldo camp. Together you discuss a plan to break into Arasaka Tower and reach Mikoshi, which involves tunnelling beneath it. You'll be able to reach Alt with Dakota's help, so she'll be ready to assist you once you're in. It's at this point that Saul makes you an official member of the Aldecaldos.

The next day, you'll head to the Basilisk—Mitch will have explained some of the changes they've made to it the previous day—and you'll need to fight your way to it. Once you're inside the dig site tunnel and close to the drill, ensure that Mitch returns to the Basilisk. Continue into Arasaka with Panam and Saul.

Once you've plugged in Alt, she'll help you deal with the Arasaka guards as you make your way to Mikoshi. You'll face a boss fight with Adam Smasher at this point but he'll take out Saul anyway. Once Smasher is taken care of, plug yourself into Mikoshi and you'll be reunited with Johnny and Alt in cyberspace. You should now be given a couple of choices which will decide which ending you get:

  • "Wanna live out whatever life I've got left.": This choice gives you the All Along the Watchtower ending.
  • "Body's Johnny's. I'll go.": Choosing this option gives you New Dawn Fades.

The first choice sees V returning to Earth where you'll leave Night City behind you and join back up with the Aldecaldos. And it seems that they are convinced they know someone who can help you to live a long and happy life.

If you choose the second option, you'll head back to Night City as Johnny. The Epilogue takes you guitar shopping with Steve, before a heartfelt visit to the Columbarium to pay your respects to Rogue and V. Johnny doesn't plan on hanging around Night City for long, though. Shortly after, he'll board a bus and leave.

Cyberpunk 2077 ending: Let Johnny and Rogue go

You get this option only if you have a good relationship with Johnny Silverhand. This means you need to have completed the 'Blistering Love' side mission. Choose "Think you and Rogue should go" when prompted.

If you let Johnny and Rogue take on Arasaka, you'll play out the rest of the ending as Johnny as he takes over V's body. You'll head straight to the Afterlife club to ask for Rogue's help—which she'll agree to—and she'll bring Weyland on board as an extra pair of hands to help out too.

Once the three of you have gone over the plan, you head to the AV to head towards Arasaka Tower. The AV will get shot down as you approach, but you'll all survive the crash which lands you in one of the floors of the tower. Weyland gets separated from both you and Rogue at this point, but you can reunite with him easily enough.

Follow Rogue to the security rooms and plug Alt into the system once there. You'll meet and fight Adam Smasher on your way to Mikoshi but sadly, Rogue will lose her life here. With the boss out of the way, plug into Mikoshi to rejoin V in cyberspace.

After a conversation with Alt and V, you'll be presented with the following choices (bare in mind these are decisions you make as Johnny) :

  • "Goin' with Alt, you live on.": This choice gives you the Path of Glory ending
  • "Not ready to die yet.": With this option, you'll receive the New Dawn Fades ending.

V will fight you as you pick the first option but keep going across the bridge. Once that's done, V returns to their body and finally becomes the Legend of Night City.

Choosing the dialogue "Not ready to die yet" gives you the same outcome as the second option during the Panam ending, above.

Cyberpunk 2077 ending: Path of Least Resistance

This ending has no special unlock requirements but it's not an immediately obvious choice either. Pick any of the main options you have available during the Nocturne Op55N1 quest, then follow it up with "Could also just put all this to rest". Look down at the pills in your hand and select "[Toss pills] I know. Exactly what we're gonna do."

This is Cyberpunk's bad ending. The game ends here when V takes their own life. There is no resolution for any characters and the end credits roll.

Cyberpunk 2077 secret ending

This is called the secret ending for a reason, and is also triggered during the Nocturne Op55N1 story mission. The requirements to get this ending are easy to miss as it appears to involve some very specific dialogue choices at the end of the Chippin' In side quest.

According to Reddit user roylv22, the correct options are as follows:

  • "[Inscribe Johnny’s Initials] Let’s do something about that."
  • "The Guy who Saved My Life."
  • "Nah, fucked that up too."
  • "What do you want from me?"
  • "OK. But as second chances go, this is your last."
  • "You were a real dick in the beginning."
  • "When you said you let down your friends…"
  • "Smasher biz really got to her."
  • "Yeah, I’ll call Rogue."

Assuming you selected the dialogue options above, you should be good to go. When prompted to choose who you want to take with you, don't respond with anything. Wait in silence for at least five minutes and Johnny will eventually speak.

Respond with "Let's hear this plan" then follow that up with "[Attack Arasaka Tower] Means goin' out with a bang—I like it.".

V will take on Arasaka Tower alone, without risking their friends. The mission that follows is tough and will put you up against deadly opponents. You should also be aware that you can't save during this final mission and if V dies, the credits will roll. If you do manage to make it through to the end, however, you'll get to choose one of the previous endings by either entering the well or crossing the bridge.
